Have you ever had a pair of shoes that you loved so much, but you didn’t want to get rid of them despite how gross they looked?
Well, thats exactly how I felt bout these sandals that I have, and have had for a long time. They are super comfy and cute, and I love how they fit, but the jewels on them were becoming discolored and gross looking.
That is why I decided to do a little DIY and remove the jewels off the sandals. They look a lot better, but they are still the same shoe that I came to know and love.
How Did I Do It?
Here are what the shoes looked like originally! Notice how the jewels are discolored and yellow?
So pretty much the only supply you will need is a pair of scissors…you could use a seam ripper as well, but I didn’t have one, so scissors worked for me!
Start with the bottom most jewell, lift it up as high as you can away from the strap and snip the string/thread that is holding the jewels on.
Once you have cut the thread, begin pulling at the jewels to get them to come off. This took a bit of strength to do for the first few jewels, but once they thread was a bit longer, it became a lot easier to get them off.
Once all the jewels are off, you will need to remove the thread, which was super easy. Just pull it and it will come right out
Repeat the above steps for the second shoe, you will then have a pile of jewels and thread like I did, one for each shoe (or combined).
Complete!!! Now my sandals are done and look a lot nicer now.
Now, they may not look the best, or in the best shape, but this beats having to spend more money on sandals, when these are still perfectly useable! As I stated in the title, it was a super simple makeover, but it makes them look so much better!
Let me know what you think in the comments, but also have you done a super simple DIY/makeover on something? What was it?
